Solution:  Sourced relevant statutes and ordinances and then explored with public authorities how the rules are interpreted and applied in practical terms. Subsequently tested discontinuities identified with the cross-border trading community to verify the issues.
Result: Provided a reliable template against which trade dynamics could be evaluated and better explained.


Brief: Research conducted into how manufacturers were collaboratively controlling a regional distribution system supplying metropolitan retail points of sale.
Solution:  Devised a multi-faceted research programme to capture information on supply contracts, products and prices; to map product movements; to devise volume assessments; to establish network relationships; to determine the involvement of secondary markets in compensation; to explain the use of shell companies; to other information
